After a successful conversion of the Liberty School Apartments in 2005, funding was awarded in 2009 for the second historic school on campus. The Glasgow Graded School is now 23 affordable apartment units for persons 55 years and older. Construction was completed in December 2010 and a dedication was held in February 2011.
Originally constructed in 1927, the Glasgow Graded School enjoyed a rich history prior to its new life as an apartment community for seniors. Located within the Southwest Glasgow Residential Historic District, the Glasgow Graded School is the earliest structure associated with the Glasgow Public School System. The school was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
The original classrooms have been carefully and expertly transformed into comfortable apartments which include all modern systems and amenities. The apartments feature high ceilings, large new windows, spacious closets, individually controlled thermostats, and fully equipped kitchens.
There are 23 gracious apartments in total with 10 one-bedroom units and 13 two-bedroom units. All apartments are fully accessible with a new elevator that serves all floors. The furnished Community Room is a lovely place to gather.
The Glasgow Graded School Apartments offer convenient, comfortable, and affordable living through financing from the Kentucky Housing Corporation as well as the Community Affordable Housing Equity Corporation. Income and age restrictions will apply for all apartments.
