The former Post Office has been carefully and expertly transformed into comfortable apartments which include all modern systems and amenities. There are 14 gracious apartments in total with ten one-bedroom units and four two-bedroom units. All homes are accessible by an elevator that serves all levels. The furnished Community Room serves all residents.

The old Jackson Post Office is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is locally significant as the largest and most elaborately detailed building in the City of Jackson from the early twentieth century. It is the finest example of high style design in the local architectural area and is significant in its relation to the Federal Government and the height of Jackson’s rich coal history. It is now preserved and transformed into fourteen affordable housing units for seniors. The building was dedicated in October 2013.



The Federal Place Apartments offer convenient, comfortable, and affordable living through financing from the Kentucky Housing Corporation, Citizens Bank & Trust Company of Jackson, the Kentucky Heritage Council, and the Kentucky Department for Local Government. Income and age restrictions apply for all apartments.
